A friend and
I were discussing various churches and he said, “I think my church is the
poorest [financially] in town.” He went on to say that most of the church
membership has a hard time supporting themselves, much less supporting the
church. It occurs to me that the words Jesus applied to individuals are also
applicable to the collective body of Christ. Jesus said, “Look at the birds of
the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly
Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who
of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life” (Matt 6:26 NIV)?
