Reply To All

In my email correspondence I’ve never developed the habit of sending one message to multiple people. When I’ve respond to an email in my inbox, I’ve make it a point to reply only to the sender. In the last few months however, that has changed. I now find myself in many situations where, in order to keep everyone in the loop, I have to use the ‘reply to all’ function. I thought I was finally getting the hang of it but just a few days ago I accidently sent a ‘reply to all’ and then cringed when I realized I should have been more selective in the addressees. It takes skill and focus to reveal information at the right time, in the right place and to the right people. During his ministry Jesus often told folks to keep his identity secret because his time had not yet come. What a relief when he finally allowed his followers to Reply To All.

Gail;
-----Without information we would be less civilized than grizzlies. Even their simple actions of communication carry information important to socialization. Note how many times a cub being swatted twenty feet for misbehaving comes back to do it again. The exchange of ideas is only one step less important. The power and value of ideas are clearly evidenced by the emphasis our culture places on the right to privacy, and the lip service it pays to the right to freedom of speech. When information or ideas fall into the wrong hands, the effects can often be visibly seen as despicable events begin burning down peoples lives. But let me swerve.
-----Lying is just as powerful. I love to watch people cringe when I state that today’s mainstream, drive-by news media is very analogous to Adolf Hitler’s Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels. Nobody is supposed to draw analogies from Adolf Hitler in our new, kind and gentle, warm and fuzzy society. But the denial of such analogy is as deceitful as is calling our society new, kind, gentle, warm, or fuzzy. Goebbels packaged and sold Hitler’s idealized society so effectively that the national culture failed to consider the inhumanity of The Final Solution. Likewise, our mainstream media has as successfully packaged the incomplete statement of a woman’s right to choose. Nothing wrong with that? If for the last forty years the statement had been presented with its critically important, missing, modifying phrase “…to kill her unborn, unique, individual, baby human”, American culture would never have tolerated the crime. More than forty million Americans would not have joined six million Jews in dying to make a better life for the living, the chosen ones. We are as guilty as Hitler’s Germans in failing to consider the inhumanity of abortion, or the dangers of popularized deceit. It is the pop press, America’s Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels, who has failed to reply to all.
