The Christian Ear is a forum for discussing and listening to the voice of today's church. The Lord spoke to churches,“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Rev 2&3

Follow the Rules
I’m serving on the elections Credentials Committee for a local utility
and part of my job is to determine whether or not a returned ballot is valid. A few people don’t follow the voting instructions,
causing their ballot to be invalidated. Interestingly most of the invalid
ballots are the result of the voter simply failing to put the ballot in the
secrecy envelope, but others fail to sign the ballot or sign for a deceased
person. Somehow we voters think that the only thing necessary is getting the
ballot to the polling place on time and that it really doesn’t matter if we
follow the rules. Wrong. “Do you not know
that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes
nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor
drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1
Cor 6:9-10 NIV)

Gail;
-----Moreover these shall also block the way, “...enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit, 21envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Gal 5:20b-21) Enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, and envy are about as universal as emotions come. Everyone does them a little. And although there are fewer totally selfish folks than not, there isn’t anyone who is not a bit selfish. Breaking any part of the Law makes one guilty of having broken the whole law. Those ballots are a great example of the technical aspect of righteousness.
-----So what chance have we? Tremendous chance! The greatest reward of all is based not on merit but grace so that God will be true although all men are false. Thus He reveals His manifold wisdom through the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places.
Love you all,
Steve Corey
