The Christian Ear is a forum for discussing and listening to the voice of today's church. The Lord spoke to churches,“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Rev 2&3

In a Bubble
The space shuttle Enterprise never went on an actual space mission, but
it was used for flights in the atmosphere. The new home for the Enterprise is
the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York and as per the requirements
from NASA, a climate controlled environment is to be built around the space
shuttle. Say what? A shuttle that is designed for space travel must now be
protected from the earth’s environment. Sounds remarkably like some of us on
the religious landscape. Believers are designed for reaching the lost, but some
of us just want to stay in the climate controlled environment of the church.

Gail;
-----Jesus Christ saves us from eternal destruction. He even saves us from the prospects of any difficulties, frustrations, and problems at all in that eternity. What He does not save us from are the difficulties and frustrations of this present evil age. But He teaches us the ways of doing right and loving which greatly alleviate our present problems. While the church somewhat shelters us from the world’s troubles, it is still just the association of those who follow Christ, the fellowship of them, in more proper terms. I suppose you could call that a controlled environment.
-----If it is, it is that for a purpose. Not all of those intermingling in it are strong, vibrant, and Spiritually wealthy heroes, busting the underbrush without getting scratched, beating back the miscreants without being bruised, and riding home with the poor, rescued lost. Some are. But many more are weak and confused. They’re sure they wouldn’t get past the weeds to the underbrush, let alone get through it and return home. Most of us forage in the underbrush pretty well and at least coexist with miscreants. It isn’t the best of possibilities, but it is what it is. Thankfully we do have an environmentally controlled place effecting our perceived meanings and purposes in life.
-----So it really is that through the church God shows His manifold wisdom to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places. His purpose towards mankind is to get as many of us from our place of degradation to His place of glory. We think it would be great if true were perfect and righteousness were complete in the church. But they’re not. They’re good and plenty, for sure. And everyone who truthfully is part of His body accomplishes some purpose, large or small, that fits with the rest of the accomplishments and brings in the lost to the very last one of whom will receive Him.
Love you all,
Steve Corey
