Records of Wrongs

As I tidy up my mom’s affairs I’m not only shredding old bank statements and medical records, I’m also shredding the grudges she kept. The documentation of a lawsuit that she lost 35 years ago, a 20 year-old outstanding loan to a family member that was never repaid and the unequal divorce settlement of a failed marriage. I appreciate Paul’s reminder to us of what Love really is, “It is not rude, it is not self–seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” (1Cor 13:5 NIV)

Gail;

-----I am thankful God is faithful to His own definition of love such that He keeps no record of wrongs either. Your mom has found this to be the case by now. Also she has found why we need not keep a list of any wrongs. The end of our temporal lives is the often called the great equalizer. It is even more the great eraser. With the drawing of our last breathe, all the bad which happened to us upon earth becomes completely irrelevant and washed away by the flood of good which then begins. So there’s no reason for a list of wrongs to be relevant before then. The love that fills the void of those memories forgotten is more real than what was lost to anything wrong in the first place.

Love you all,
