Discovery

In the late 1990’s I picked up a new, in the box, electronic game at the thrift store. Although we never had the instructions to the game, we could sort of play one of the concentration games with either one or two players.  Over the years the toy would rise to the top of the toy box and then once again settle to the bottom. Just the other day seven year-old Lydia was reading one of her daddy’s old books and the instructions sheet to the electronic game fell to the floor. What a surprise. We didn’t even know there was an instruction sheet, much less that it was missing. Chuckling we read directions to one another and discovered which buttons to push in order to play a host of different games. “So this is how it works! Well now, this game is worth something. Check this out, this is really cool.” I can see this same scenario being played out with our Bibles. Some of us are content to learn just a little portion of Scripture here and there, but when we do really get into the Word and read the instructions we’re amazed by what we discover.

Gail;

-----The Bible’s instructions for us are just the beginning of discovery. The most basic instruction is that we believe. With that in mind, Psalms 19:1-4 reveals a massive new text God wrote and is writing full of more to discover, “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard; yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.”
-----Bethlehemstar.net presents an amazing discovery made by a man with a good astronomy program. He found that in 2BC, Jupiter, the kingly planet, passed Regulus, the king star in the foot of the constellation Leo, then went into retrograde motion, passing it again, then turned to its normal forward trek, passing a third time, having crowned Regulus with its oval path. Earlier, it had gone into conjunction with Venus, forming the brightest light in the sky. On the morning of December 25, 2BC, the sun rose in the belly of the constellation Virgo, the virgin, and the moon trailed at her feet, just as Revelation portrays. I can say no more from memory without detracting from all he claims to have found.
-----But I can add to it the recent photograph Hubble gave us of a collision between two asteroids. The pattern of the main debris field forms a cross which is also an intersection of two of its six lines forming the star of David. This is a fitting time for such a marking to appear amidst the surging rise of Islamic power and influence around the world! All three of the world’s major religions look back to Abraham. Two attend Jehovah and hold the Old and New Testaments in hand proclaiming love of even enemies and life in heart. The third attend Allah and hold the Koran in hand proclaiming hatred for enemies and honor of death in heart. With its tail the great serpent swept one third of the stars from the sky. Patterns are revealing. Two are showing in the sky.
-----History also serves patterns. Yesterday, during my internet playtime, I discovered Chapter 8 of “After the Flood“, by Bill Cooper. Therein was an amazing discussion of Scottish genealogy as written by pagans in the centuries before St. Patrick twinkled at mommy through his daddy’s eyes. Sure enough, their branches of genealogy disbursed from Magog, through Japheth, through Noah. Their genealogy was constructed before any contact was had with either Jew or Christian.
-----Then comes the stuff from the dirt. The 18th century opened with blasphemous proclamations of “higher” criticism aimed against the Bible’s true authorship. The three centuries following stripped the truth about God’s Word from the public mind of the Western world. Finally God rose His voice in the 20th century through artifacts of archeology washing away the lies of the “higher” critics in a flood of facts. We stand today with a truly amazing array of facts and historical data and patterns of logic which unarguably show that the Word of Our Holy Loving God is indeed a scientific textbook.
-----For in as much as the first step of any science is the proper frame of mind, no science can be without that proper frame of mind. And the Word of God is about that proper frame of mind. Never again let anyone get away with claiming the Bible is not a scientific textbook. Without it, all man’s discoveries are made against a backdrop of lies, which now must be held bold-facedly. And they are. “Let God be true though every man be false, as it is written, ‘That Thou mayest be justified in Thy Words, and prevail when Thou art judged.’” (Rom 3:4)
