Recall

The June 4, 2013 edition of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel has an article written by reporter Charles Ashby on the recall effort against Senator John Morse. At issue is the work Morse has done to push on the passage of tougher gun-control laws. In the article Mores’ detractors are charging that he is not the same person he was when he was elected. The article states, “Mores, however, said it wasn’t him who changed, but the circumstances.” Interesting deflection. Unfortunately that same attitude weaves its way into the body of believers when we bend to the circumstances in today’s society. However, Paul reminds us of why we need to be alert and mature, “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.” (Eph 4:14 NIV)

Gail;

-----Actually, I would recall a guy for not changing. To not change implies that one is sufficient for all times and laden with all truth. That One left the earth quite some time ago, and there has been none since. And it is His truth in us now which should produce plenty of change with our circumstances.
-----But this isn’t the kind of tossing back and forth which Paul addresses. He writes of someone without a forming core. I like to say that truth has awareness. All of the parts and units of reality fit together to form one fundamental meaning. To an atheist I could acceptably say this meaning is the Law of Identity: everything is precisely what it is. It sounds trite, but it is huge. First, this law can not be denied, and not just because it is the first and most fundamental law of science. It does not matter what anybody thinks something is; it precisely is what it is anyway. Then, since everything is what it is regardless of what anybody thinks it is, to know what something is - to know the truth - requires changing the mind until what is known matches what is. Simple humility. The awareness truth has comes from the identity reality has. Each piece of reality has an interlocking fit with the next piece most related to it like one jigsaw puzzle piece is cut to fit only one other piece. Therefore, the truth you know about one piece frames your mind to discover the next piece. Truth’s awareness forms an indelible and growing core in you, ever changing you into it. And if you do not impede its progress with arrogance, it tells you the meaning Christ made it to mean.
-----So this is why I would recall a guy for not changing. Try as he might, he can’t change the truth. He must be changed by the truth. And within the complexity of all the truth of Jesus Christ is the reality of personal freedom, which is formed to fit personal responsibility. This responsibility is multifaceted. Everyone and everything in your proximity is fit for mutual consideration. Each one’s right is the same as yours: personal freedom and responsibility. If an unfitting lump enters the mix, by definition, it seeks either your personal enslavement or the personal enslavement of something in your proximity, ie, it forces others to irresponsibly fit its demands. Part of your responsibility is for the preservation of personal freedoms. If you can call any police who will serve well and timely, then it is your responsibility to do so. But if the police will not or can not serve timely, the remaining truth is that you will need to call Smith and Wesson. The records of history show that well armed populaces have less crime and better stave off criminal governments than other populaces of similar circumstances. In the end, The Truth sets us completely free. In the meantime, guarding truth from those who refuse to change is your personal responsibility. If Morse refuses the change, recall him. It isn’t about politics. It’s about reality, ie, the truth.

Love you all,
