I know my mom, aunts, and uncle appreciated and loved their mother as a
mother, but I’m not sure they ever considered that the blessings they
experienced in their lives might well be a direct result of their mother’s
righteousness.
“The righteous man leads a blameless
life; blessed are his children after him.” (Proverbs 20:7 NIV)

-----It couldn’t be that this Proverb trumps free will. There is not only a genetic component to a mind’s basic nature, there is also an inner environment of attitudes and purposes unique to each individual. So it is that sometimes the same household produces both a saint and a hellion. Even a small amount of stubbornness and arrogance can spoil character like a fly spoils perfume.

Our righteousness has some rub-off blessings on others...even the hellion off-spring. It would be interesting to see how they would respond if they were reminded of that fact when they were in the act of rebelling:)

-----Considering what a blessing is, you could not be more right. It is unfortunate that some people do not construct into their lives the blessings they’ve received. ”He reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of His nature, upholding the universe by His word of power.” Heb 1:3. Now that is some blessing! The more righteous is the person, the more what he does carries the nature of blessing. Christ was so righteous that even the air we breathe and the ground we stand upon are blessings. We deserve neither, yet He holds them together. So, even the meaning of these simplicities can be constructed into the goodness of our lives by the humble, acknowledging frames of mind.
-----I see the blessings of righteous people flowing in a like manner. They keep their affairs orderly and aimed towards goodness. Their goodness touches others and their orderliness is testimonial in the least, and moreover, it is educational and inspirational to the humble. The truly righteous people bless others from even their basic simplicities (and maybe more so from them.)
