Outside the Box

Many people in the church today have joined the ‘think outside the box’ campaign. The first question I want to ask is, ‘Who built the box we’re talking about?’ Scripture clearly puts Christians in a box on topics of homosexuality, obedience, murder, etc., yet outside-the-box-thinkers want us to ‘discuss’ the issues. Personally I think there’s a warning label on the outside of the God-built box that says, ‘thinking outside this box could be hazardous to you health’.

Gail;
----The disrespect for the Word of God today is appalling. The Bible does define the box we are to abide in, just as you stated. The Bible is definite about its place in our thinking. Five times Paul exhorted Timothy and Titus to sound doctrine. Paul urged the Romans to watch for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in their way contrary to what they had been taught. I believe what the Romans were taught eventually was written into the Bible. Paul told Timothy to keep what he had heard from him as the pattern of sound teaching (2 Tim 1:13). These are only a few quick references regarding the Bible's place in our thinking. That place is certain, and it is a box. I Cor 4:6 says quite clearly, "Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Appollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Hmm. Oh well, it is a mighty big box. I will never think up it whole contents, or make up anything else.
