No Pain, No Gain

There is an old joke about a man going to the doctor complaining that his finger hurt when he moved it. The doctor said, “Well if it hurts when you move it, don’t move it.” Unfortunately many people of faith take the doctor’s advice. Being a Christian is often painful – physically, emotionally and financially. Actually, accepting Jesus is painless, it’s the following Him that can be painful and some of us are just not willing to endure any discomfort. Jesus said, “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.” (Matt 19:29 NIV)

Gail;

-----Many of our decisions and habits are formed around pain avoidance. Some people don’t go far in this life as a result. Others seem to enjoy pain; they always find a way into it. But either way, pain isn’t the point. Pain is merely an effect, and doing what is right is the point. So when doing what is right is painful, by example of those who enjoy pain, is it not valid to enjoy the pain? Then in turn, by befriending the pain of doing right (of which is calling on Jesus Christ,) until death has been defeated the pain of eternal destruction is avoided.

Love you all,
