Censored
I don’t understand the criteria used by the media for censoring. In one photo or video clip a face might be blurred-out while body parts are exposed, and then in another clip it’s just the opposite, the sensual parts are blackened-out and the face is exposed. I suppose it depends on who the media is trying to protect - the person in the photograph, the viewing public or themselves. Amazingly believers sometimes take it upon themselves to blur the Word of God. The writer John penned a warning to deal with any would-be censors of Revelation. “And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.” (Rev 22:19 NIV)

-----I look into these same patterns of behavior by the media and see something that deeply bothers me. Some situations of this censorship happen in the entertainment sector, some happen in the news sector. Underlying most of them I see, deeper than an effort to protect one aspect of privacy or another, an effort to make statements regarding the individuality and mutuality of human nature. We are all individuals. But how we act mutually shapes society. I think these editors are busy shaping society by manipulating perceptions regarding individuality.
-----In the instance of entertainment, by exposing the face, the pinnacle of individuality, and by censoring the situation, the editor rejoices in the individual’s right to do whatever shameful action he thinks you, the critical audience, has no right disapproving. So the individual is shown while the effect of the action is concealed in a manner that the action itself is left apparent to all but the least discerning minds.
-----On the other hand, when the action is the subject of news, the individual is hidden from scorn so the action itself can bear that focus. God forbid the person bear any responsibility, unless, of course, the personage of the individual harvests the actual contempt or gratuitous approval of the editor. Be sure then the face will be readily seen.
-----Whatever may be the intensions behind the editing bothers me less than does the fact that someone has himself placed in the position of expert to do it, and thus effect your thinking. God does not intend society to be shaped by the demagogic editing of self situated experts. He even less intends His Holy Bride to be shaped by the same expert editing of the Word.
