Rewards

Because of the need for financial disclosure, Mitt and Ann Romney’s church tithing record has become public record. To their credit they have a respectable record of giving, but I can imagine their discomfort at having their donations put out for public consumption. Jesus said, “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (Matt 6:3-4).

Gail;

-----When the Romney’s tax returns were released in January, a big deal was made about the exposure of their tithing. Mitt said tithing was a private and personal matter, and it should not be tossed into public record. Yet he was sure to acknowledge that they give 10%. Mitt shouldn’t have indicated how much he gives, for there is never an end to deceit. “Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.” (Prov 27:2) I think $1.5 million dollars is pretty generous in spite of the fact he earned $21 million. But others were quick to point out that he only gave 7%, not the 10% he claimed. Indiscretion in self-revelation has a way of nourishing your enemies even though what you reveal is true and positive. It pays to remember that every speakable word is liar-fodder.

Love you all,
