It occurs to
me that when we present the plan of salvation to another person we actually want
them to be saved in the same way in which we ourselves found salvation. Paul, a
prisoner, was in a severe storm on a ship that was being driven across the
Adriatic Sea. He warned his guards that unless everyone stayed with the ship
they could not be saved…but it wasn’t the ship that would save them, nor would
they all be saved in the same manner. When the ship struck a sandbar and ran
aground some prisoners jumped overboard and swam, others got away on planks or
pieces of the ship, “In this way everyone reached land in safety” (Acts 27:44b
NIV).
