Nothing to Pray About

Can you imagine your spouse driving home in a shiny new sports car when you didn’t have a clue they were even thinking about a new car, much less that they were actually car shopping? I think some people in my church will have similar feelings when they read the March newsletter. We’ve just been told the staff and elders have hired an additional pastor, which is certainly their prerogative. Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not against the man selected. I don’t know…it just seems to me that the leadership could have included the congregation in their plans by asking for prayers, comments and support. But hey, CEOs don’t ask for a company’s blessing when they make management decisions, so why should we expect it from church leaders?

Gail;
-----Actually, CEO’s ask for the blessings of the board of directors, who, if they know what is good for them, will have in mind the company’s customers. Otherwise the shareholders will vote them out to keep the Company healthy. Being under that pressure, the directors will can the CEO’s who fail to consider the interests of those whom the company serves.
-----But God is a more gracious and faithful shareholder. His interests are towards all of those served by His church and her actions. They are more than just the lost of the community. They are more than the believers struggling to make sense of the confusing messages they’ve received from His churches. They are even those principalities and powers in the heavenly places to whom God is making known His manifold wisdom through the church.
-----So, even though the church CEO’s do not consider the interests of others and fail to follow many initiatives given by God’s elected board of directors (the Word of God and the Holy Spirit), God will remain faithfully in support of His directors. And His directors will make a public display of the pompous foolishness of the CEO’s. More amazing, yet they too will remain faithfully in support of the CEO’s, regardless of their damages, because God will be true though all men be false. From His faithfulness much benefit will be extracted for the church customers from even the most foolish CEO’s, and His wisdom will be on display.

Love to all the customers and CEO’s,

Steve Corey
